A phone is held, not hovered over. Aura’s touch grammar starts from the hand: what the thumb reaches without a stretch is where decisions live, and only three gestures are ever load-bearing.
The reach map
One-handed, the screen has three bands. Aura places by band, not by whim: decide low, read high. The yes, the dock, and the ask field live in the easy zone; titles, figures and prose live where the eye goes but the thumb needn’t.
The gestures
Three gestures carry meaning; everything else is a tap. Any action reachable by gesture is also reachable by a visible control — a gesture is a shortcut, never the only door.
| Prop | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
hold · 900ms | the yes | The product's whole ask. Fills as it holds, cancels free on release — deliberation as a physical fact. |
swipe down | dismiss | Parks a drawer or sheet, unharmed, back onto the pile. Never wired to anything destructive. |
pull down | refresh | Asks the sources again. The serif gate applies while it settles: figures wait rather than guess. |
- 44 points, minimum. Every target is at least 44×44 — the visual can be smaller, the touchable never is. Row heights come from
--density-row, and compact density on the phone still respects the floor. - No hidden inventory. Nothing lives only behind a swipe-to-reveal. If a row has actions, the row says so with shape.
- The edge belongs to the system. Screen-edge swipes are the platform’s back gesture. Aura never claims them.
Haptics
Touch has its own named clocks. One soft tick when the hold completes — the yes has a heartbeat. One light tap when a drawer reaches its detent. Silence otherwise: a surface that buzzes on every tap is shouting, and Aura does not shout. Under reduced motion the haptics stay — they are meaning, not decoration — but they never multiply.
